Join CUGA

We welcome all UW Sports players to join CUGA, either through the purchase of a membership, or as a registered non-member. Below are the details for each option.

1. Membership

There are 2 levels of annual paid memberships with CUGA available:

  • Individual
  • Group

Membership is valid for the designated calendar year, and must be renewed annually. Individual and Group membership requires payment and a completed/signed waiver. If a club is using CUGA insurance, EVERY player at every game/practice/tournament must hold current valid membership.

CUGA strives to provide a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all its members. Prior to the completion of the waiver please review the Code of Conduct by clicking <<HERE>>

Adherence to the Code of Conduct is a requirement of CUGA membership.

Benefits

The benefits of Individual and Group membership:

  • Access to the CUGA Development Grant which provides funding twice a year to clubs/individuals wishing to develop their local UWH/UWR programs
  • Ability to vote at the CUGA AGM to decide on issues impacting playing/development of underwater sports in Canada
  • Access to the Development Programs (various skills clinics hosted throughout the year)
  • Ability to participate in CUGA sanctioned tournaments; Nationals for example
  • Insurance coverage which allows a member to play in CUGA sanctioned tournaments and at local clubs that use CUGA insurance.
  • Ability to try out and be selected as a player, coach, selector or manager for any of Canada’s National teams.

Fees and Process

Individual

The fee is $30.00 per year if payment is made prior to February 1st.

Effective February 1st the fee is $35.

Rookie/New Players do not pay the membership fee during their first year; however, they must sign the waiver, at which point they will have valid CUGA membership status.

The waiver must be signed in order to complete membership; if the member is a minor their waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

NOTE: Valid membership requires payment AND the signed waiver.

Process:
    1. Make payment using one of the following options:
      • Email transfer the fee to finance@cuga.org
      • Submit payment using Paypal through the Pay Now button below:

    2. Sign the Waiver
    3. Upon receipt of payment and the signed waiver, CUGA will send an email confirming the member’s status.

Group

This option is available to clubs with greater than 50 members, and payment is consolidated into a group payment. The Club will identify a key contact/representative to work with CUGA regarding club memberships.

The fee is $30 per person for up to 50 players and $15 for each player after that.

For example, a club with 60 players pays a total of $1650.00 (50 players at $30, plus 10 players at $15).

The waiver must be signed in order to complete membership; if the member is a minor their waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

NOTE: Valid membership requires payment AND the signed waiver.

Process:
    1. Provide CUGA, by Feb 15th, a list of club members including first and last names and email address. CUGA and the club representative will finalize the payment amount.
    2. Every member must sign the Waiver.
    3. Upon receipt of payment and the signed waiver, CUGA will send an email confirming the member’s status.

2. Non-Member Registration

There are players in the underwater sports community in Canada who are not CUGA members, this option enables a connection to CUGA without cost. Registrants with this status are not eligible for the benefits provided to members.

Collecting data about more players in Canada enables CUGA to better understand where players are located and the sport(s) they are involved in.

There is no fee for this option.

Process:
    1. Complete and submit the Non-Member Registration form <<CLICK HERE>>
    2. Upon receipt of the registration form CUGA will send an email that confirms receipt.
